 | Elms
Elms make up a large percentage of the cultivated and
non-cultivated trees in the Southern Great Plains; they are also Steve's
particular passion. The elm's ability to flourish in poor, high pH
soils and to withstand drought and extreme heat and cold make them good
candidates for use as shade and ornamental plantings. Unfortunately,
elms have fallen out of favor over the last 50 years because of Dutch Elm
disease and the ravages of the elm leaf beetle. New selections and
varieties are now available that are resistant, so the elm can once again
take it deserved place in the landscape. Find out more and see the
results of the Sunshine Nursery & Arboretum elm evaluations for elm
leaf beetle feeding. |
